North South University (NSU) formalized a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jhpiego, Bangladesh, one of the most prominent US-based International NGOs affiliated with Johns Hopkins University. Representing Jhpiego, Bangladesh, were Dr. Setara Rahman, Country Lead, Dr. S M Munavir Yusuf, Senior Technical Specialist, and Mr. Farhad Ahmed, Finance Officer. From NSU, Mr.
Mehedi Masud Sumon, Senior Officer from the Office of External Affairs (OEA), attended the MoU signing ceremony, which took place at the Jhpiego, Bangladesh office on August 13, 2024.
Following the initial meeting on May 26, 2024, between North South University (NSU) and Jhpiego, Bangladesh, one of the largest US-based international NGOs affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, both parties agreed to establish an academic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Jhpiego, Bangladesh, is committed to improving the quality of life for the poorest and most vulnerable communities, mainly supporting underprivileged women in Bangladesh. Their work
focuses on family planning, maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, developing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for vulnerable adolescents
and youth, and addressing climate change challenges. These initiatives aim to uplift marginalized populations in Bangladesh while aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
